Since 1989 it has been included in the Cultural Agreement between Italy and the University of Barcelona for the excavation of Mount Testaccio (Rome). Excavations entrusted to the CEIPAC research team under the direction of the Profs. José Mª. Blázquez Martínez and José Remesal Rodríguez.
The main objective of the project is to determine the importance of the production and circulation of Baetic oil during the Roman Empire and, ultimately, to provide national and international research with the data necessary to understand the economy of the Roman Empire and the role that Hispania played in the economic concert of that time.
