IO VINALIA PRIORA !!!
In Roman times "before diem IX Kalendas Maiam" the festival of the "Vinalia Priora" or "Vinalia Urbana" was celebrated for closing and beginning the productive wine-growing cycle. The "Vinalia" were the Roman festivities of viticulture. Celebrated in honor of Jupiter and Venus, the "Vinalia Priora" ("first Vinalia"), also known as "Vinalia Urbana", was celebrated on April 23th, to bless and taste the wine of the previous year and ask the gods good weather and good harvest for the next vintage. The Vinalia Rústica "was celebrated on August 19th and meant the beginning of the vintage period with the harvesting and pressing of the grapes.
