I'm working with Xavi Rubio and Simon Carrignon (Ph.D. student) on the use of Agent-Based Models (ABM) to help historians. The basic idea is that historians are using models that are expressed in words. This methods has limitation in its ability to check the outcome of the model against data, and the comparison of different models. On the other side, ABMs are a well known method that help to formalise (in computer programs) models. We think that this method can help historians to express their models as computer programs. Our work is therefore both on the theoretical development of ABMs and on the technical application of these methods to the questions studied by historians
